Local businesswoman Jessica Williamson's breast cancer brunch raised more than $4000.
LOCAL entrepreneur Jessica Williamson opened the doors to her creative space in Willetton for a good cause.
On Saturday October 12, Studio 8 Perth was transformed into a pink paradise for a special breast cancer brunch.
Thanks to guests and local businesses, the event raised $4056, all of which will go to the McGrath Foundation in support of Breast Cancer Awareness month.
Jessica told the Canning Gazette the cause was close to her heart, with both her grandmother and mother being diagnosed with breast cancer.
“One in eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer so it’s important we bring awareness to the disease and remind women to get checked,’’ she said.
“Then last year my mum was diagnosed with breast cancer. Luckily they found it early, it was removed via surgery and she is all clear now.”
Guests were treated to an array of great food and beverages at the brunch, with entertainment provided by Perth musician Ezereve and live fashion drawing from Australian illustrator Cassandra Anderson.
Jessica, who is also the founder of online swimwear label Ete Swimwear, said Studio 8 was a blank canvas for people to hire and make their own.
Since opening in April, she has hosted launch events, bridal showers, children’s parties, workshops and classes. It can also be hired for photo shoots.
